Coppertally License

Version 1.0 · Pewterham · November 4, 2026

In short

Buy once and use it forever. Make as many documents as you like, for your own business or for clients. Just don't share or resell Coppertally itself.

You may

  • Use Coppertally forever, on computers you own or control, one at a time.
  • Make as many invoices, quotes, purchase orders, timesheets, envelopes and labels as you like, for your own businesses or for clients, including paid bookkeeping work.
  • Send, print and keep what you make. It's yours, with no credit needed.
  • Sign your documents and address your envelopes in our own signing hands.
  • Keep a private online copy for your own use, protected so only you can open it.

You may not

  • Share, give away, sell, rent or sub-license Coppertally, or any part of it, changed or not.
  • Sell it as an invoice maker or as a pack of its templates, or include it in another product.
  • Put Coppertally itself online where other people can open it.
  • Copy our signing hands' font files out of Coppertally, or use them in other software.
  • Share your activation code, or try to get round activation.

1. Who grants this licence

This licence is granted by Deshenvale Ltd, trading as Pewterham ("we", "us"), a company registered in Scotland with company number SC900494, whose registered office is at 48 West George Street, Glasgow, Scotland, G2 1BP. "You" means the person who bought Coppertally.

The licence is the same whether you bought Coppertally on our website, through our reseller Paddle, or on Etsy. Coppertally is © Deshenvale Ltd 2026, apart from the fonts by other designers in section 4, which keep their own licences.

2. What you may do

3. What you may not do

4. Fonts

The signing hands Ledgerhand, Hurrywell, Softwick, Tallyhand, Nibstream and Brisknib are our own, drawn for Coppertally. Sign anything you make with Coppertally in them, for yourself or for clients, paid work included, and write the addresses on your envelopes and labels in them. They come with Coppertally for use inside it: don't copy the font files out of Coppertally, share them, sell them or use them in other software.

Coppertally also includes fonts by other designers, including more handwriting fonts for signatures, shared under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 or the Apache License 2.0. Each font's licence travels with it, in the fonts folder inside Coppertally, and FONTS.md lists every font. The PDFs you export carry the parts of the fonts they use, which all these licences allow.

5. The documents you make

You are responsible for your documents: the figures, the hours, the tax you charge, and the details the law asks for where you trade (for example, a tax number on an invoice where the law asks for one). Coppertally does the arithmetic, but it is not tax, accounting or legal advice. Only sign with your own signature, or with the signer's permission.

7. Updates and help

Updates to version 1 of Coppertally come at no extra cost. For help, email us at [email protected] or, if you bought on Etsy, message us there.

8. No warranty, and your rights

Coppertally is provided "as is". We work hard to make it reliable, but we can't promise it will be free of errors or suit every purpose. As far as the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the price you paid. Nothing in this licence limits the rights you have by law as a consumer.

Coppertally is a digital download. When you bought it, you asked for it to be supplied straight away and acknowledged that once the download starts you lose the 14-day right to cancel. This doesn't affect your other legal rights, for example if Coppertally is faulty. Our terms and refunds say what happens if something is wrong.

9. If these terms are broken

If you break these terms, this licence ends and you must delete your copies of Coppertally. Documents you made while following these terms are still yours.

10. The law

This licence is governed by the laws of Scotland. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the laws of the country where you live.

11. Privacy

Activation sends us your code, a random ID made for your browser and which app it is, and never your documents, your customers or anything you type. Our privacy notice says what we keep, why, for how long, and your rights.
