In short
- On this website you buy from Paddle, our reseller, which handles the payment, the tax, your receipt and any refund.
- You get your download straight away, and an app's activation code by email.
- Each app's page shows what it does, step by step; where the page offers a free try, you can try every step first. We don't refund a change of mind once the download starts.
- If something is wrong with it, we'll fix it, replace it or refund you.
1. Who you're buying from
On this website. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
You buy our apps and books from Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited; in the United States, Paddle.com Inc.; in Canada, Paddle.com (Canada) Ltd), under Paddle's Buyer Terms. Paddle takes the payment, adds any sales tax, sends your receipt, and answers questions about your order and payment. Deshenvale Ltd, trading as Pewterham, makes the Pewterham apps and books sold on this site, makes each one available to you under its licence (each one linked from its page, and all of them on our Licenses page) and helps you use it: for an app, a book or your activation code, write to [email protected].
On Etsy, you buy from us through Etsy, under Etsy's terms, and the same licence applies.
2. Prices and tax
Prices on this site are set in US dollars. Until our checkout opens, the pages show those US dollar prices. Once it opens, each page shows your price as Paddle will charge it: in your own currency where Paddle offers it, with VAT or GST included where your country's law asks for the full price. Anywhere else, sales tax is added at checkout where it applies. Either way, you see the total before you pay.
3. What you get, and when
As soon as your payment goes through, the page you return to has your download: for an app, a zip with the app, START HERE and its User Guide; for a book, the book and START HERE. An app's activation code arrives by email within 24 hours. If it hasn't arrived by then, check your spam folder, then write to us at [email protected]. A book's page works for 30 days from your order, opened from its email; after that, write to us and we'll send the book again.
4. Before you buy
Our apps run in Chrome or Edge on Windows or Mac, from a folder on your computer, and need an internet connection once, for a moment, to activate. Where an app's page offers a free try, you can try every step there before you buy. Only exporting or making your files needs the code, as each app's page says. Where an app makes files to print, the printing, paper and foil aren't included.
5. Your right to cancel
If you live in the UK, the EU or another country whose law gives you a right to cancel, you can usually cancel an order within 14 days. Our apps and books are digital content: at checkout you agree for yours to be made available straight away, so that right ends once its download starts (Paddle's Buyer Terms). This doesn't affect your rights if an app or a book is faulty, below.
6. If something is wrong: refunds
We don't give refunds for a change of mind once the download has started. But if an app or a book is faulty, isn't as we described it, or doesn't do what we say it does, tell us. We'll fix it or send you a working copy, and if we can't, we'll refund you. This is your right under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and it doesn't depend on these terms.
- Write to us at [email protected] with your order number and what's wrong; a screenshot helps.
- Refunds for website orders are paid by Paddle to the way you paid, under Paddle's Refund Policy; you can also ask Paddle at paddle.net. Etsy orders are refunded through Etsy.
- When a payment is refunded or charged back, its activation code is switched off, and a book's download links stop working.
7. Activation
Your code works on one computer at a time, and you can move it yourself up to 3 times a year. Section 6 of each licence has the details.
8. Our responsibility to you
As far as the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the price you paid. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have by law as a consumer.
9. Contact, and the law
For an app, your activation code or anything else, write to [email protected], or to 48 West George Street, Glasgow, Scotland, G2 1BP. You can also call us on +44 7482 540936. For your order or payment, Paddle's help is linked from your receipt, and at paddle.net.
