In short
Buy once and use it forever. Design as many logos as you like, for yourself or for clients. Just don't share or resell Sigilwright itself.
You may
- Use Sigilwright forever, on computers you own or control, one at a time.
- Design as many logos as you like, for yourself or for clients, including paid design work.
- Use the logos you make however you like, including on products you sell. They're yours.
- Keep a private online copy for your own use, protected so only you can open it.
You may not
- Share, give away, sell, rent or sub-license Sigilwright, or any part of it, changed or not.
- Sell it as a logo maker, or sell its icons, shapes or fonts as a pack.
- Put Sigilwright itself online where other people can open it.
- Remove the font and icon licences that come with it.
- Share your activation code, or try to get round activation.
1. Who grants this licence
This licence is granted by Deshenvale Ltd, trading as Pewterham ("we", "us"), a company registered in Scotland with company number SC900494, whose registered office is at 48 West George Street, Glasgow, Scotland, G2 1BP. "You" means the person who bought Sigilwright.
The licence is the same whether you bought Sigilwright on our website, through our reseller Paddle, or on Etsy. Sigilwright is © Deshenvale Ltd 2026, apart from the fonts and icons by others in section 4, which keep their own licences.
2. What you may do
- Use Sigilwright, forever, on any computers and devices you own or control, one computer at a time (section 6).
- Design as many logos as you like, for yourself or for clients, including paid design work.
- Use the logos you make however you like, including on products you sell. They are yours. Read section 5 before you register one as a trade mark.
- Keep a private online copy of Sigilwright for your own use (for example, to use it on a phone or tablet), as long as it is protected so only you can open it. An online copy counts as one of your computers (section 6).
3. What you may not do
- Share, give away, sell, rent or sub-license Sigilwright, or any part of it (its code, shapes or lettering engine), whether as it is or changed. That includes selling it as a logo maker, or selling its icons, shapes or fonts as a pack.
- Put Sigilwright itself online where other people can open it.
- Share your activation code with anyone else, or change Sigilwright to get round its activation.
- Remove the font and icon licences that come with Sigilwright.
The open-source icons inside Sigilwright stay under their own licences (MIT and ISC). Nothing in this licence limits what those licences allow.
4. Fonts and icons
Sigilwright includes fonts by other designers, shared under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 or the Apache License 2.0, and icons from Tabler Icons and Phosphor Icons (MIT License) and Lucide (ISC License). Their licences are in the fonts and licenses folders inside Sigilwright, and FONTS.md lists the fonts. The logo files you export contain no font software: lettering is drawn as outlines.
5. The logos you make
Anyone may use the same open-source icons, so a logo built mainly on a library icon is hard to register or defend as a trade mark. For a mark you want to register, build it from a monogram or a shape, and search the trade mark registers first (for example the USPTO, the UK IPO, the EUIPO or WIPO). Sigilwright doesn't check trade mark registers. You are responsible for making sure your logo doesn't copy anyone else's.
6. Activation
- Sigilwright needs a one-time online activation. If you bought on our website, your activation code arrives by email within 24 hours of your payment; if you bought on Etsy, it arrives by Etsy message, usually within 24 hours.
- Sigilwright asks for the code when you first open it, and you can choose Later. Until you enter it you can use everything except one step: the first time you download your logo, Sigilwright asks for the code again.
- A code works on one computer at a time. A "computer" means one web browser on one computer: another browser, a private window or an online copy counts as another computer.
- You can move your code to another computer yourself up to 3 times in any 12 months. "Remove this computer" in Sigilwright frees it without using a move. If you need more, ask us.
- If the activation service can't be reached when you first enter your code, Sigilwright gives that computer a 7-day temporary pass and confirms your code later. A temporary pass ends if the code turns out not to be valid, or is already in use on another computer.
- Once activated, Sigilwright works offline. When you're online it checks in at most once a day; if it can't reach us, nothing changes.
- We may switch off a code after a refund or a chargeback, or if it is shared in breach of this licence.
- If we ever close the activation service, we will first release an update of Sigilwright, at no cost, that works without activation. Until then, we'll send you an offline pass on request.
7. Updates and help
Updates to version 1 of Sigilwright come at no extra cost. For help, email us at [email protected] or, if you bought on Etsy, message us there.
8. No warranty, and your rights
Sigilwright is provided "as is". We work hard to make it reliable, but we can't promise it will be free of errors or suit every purpose. As far as the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the price you paid. Nothing in this licence limits the rights you have by law as a consumer.
Sigilwright is a digital download. When you bought it, you asked for it to be supplied straight away and acknowledged that once the download starts you lose the 14-day right to cancel. This doesn't affect your other legal rights, for example if Sigilwright is faulty. Our terms and refunds say what happens if something is wrong.
9. If these terms are broken
If you break these terms, this licence ends and you must delete your copies of Sigilwright. Logos you made while following these terms are still yours.
10. The law
This licence is governed by the laws of Scotland. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the laws of the country where you live.
11. Privacy
Activation sends us your code, a random ID made for your browser and which app it is, and never your logos, your business's details or anything you type. Our privacy notice says what we keep, why, for how long, and your rights.
